Caudalie Beauty Elixir

If like me you love your skin care and always looking out for the magic product then i’m sure you have come across or heard of Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. This product is a cult favourite for makeup artists and celebrities along with bloggers and I can see why.

Recently this product was added to my bridal makeup kit as it’s important to have the skin feeling hydrated and looking healthy before I apply the makeup base and this elixir certainly doesn’t fail. Brides ask me for that healthy, bright skin with a fresh finish and having this really does help. Okay so it’s not a miracle worker but it’s pretty close. You have to up your skincare game if you’re wanting that glowing skin and flawless makeup finish. Without a good canvas to start with the makeup results will be hard to be the red carpet finish.

Anyway, back to the beauty elixir. This mist I spritz on cleansed skin and before moisturising, then i’ll finish off my makeup with a quick spritz to set and hydrate the face.
It instantly brightens the skin’s appearance and after a very short period of use, you will notice that the pores on your skin will have reduced. See what I mean about it being a magic product!

Key Ingredients:

Grape – Boosts Radiance and Moisturises
Rose & Myrrhe – Tones the skin
Rosemary – Energise the skin

The ingredients are 100% Natural and also help calm the mind so a great handbag product. It smells amazing and doesn’t feel sticky or heavy on the skin. It would also be perfect if you’re a jet setter and want to avoid the plane air con or general sun rays.

Caudalie is a french brand and the French really do know their stuff when it comes to skincare and style, creating this beautiful light skincare range that has that luxury feel to it and amazing results. Pricing starts from £12 for a 30ml bottle and £32 for 100ml bottle, can you afford not to have this as part of your skincare routine!

Let me know how you get on with it, enjoy.

Welcome Home Archie
Baby Steps.

2 months in and I still can’t believe I’m a mum to a beautiful baby boy. Does it ever sink in? I’m not sure but I’ve already experienced so many emotions and had the tears to go with them.

When I found out I was pregnant last summer I did feel a little guilty as the weekends before hand involved quite a lot of alcohol but I did have my best friends hen party and quite a few social events. At the time I just thought my age didn’t help with the hangovers anymore, if only I knew what was really going on!
I think I went into a little bit of denial that I was actually pregnant as last year I went through quite a bad miscarriage and It did hold me back on this time around. I’ll do a post about last year and what I went through as it needs to be shared but back to the happy moments.

That moment you first bring your baby home and realise there is no manual on how a baby works, there is no on/off button and you just have to let your instincts guide you and have faith, your natural instincts do kick in trust me!

Before I had Archie, people would always ask if I would be breast feeding and we know there has always been the pressure to breast feed. My first response was ‘heck  no’ as the thought knew I knew it he was happily feeding so the breast feeding adventure begun. There will be a post shortly about my breast feeding adventure shortly and I know you can’t wait to read about that!! But in the meantime I can tell you that he’s now on formula full time and what a relief.

So realising that I was now a responsible parent I knew I had to keep this little guy fed, clean, warm and alive, if I got that right I knew something was going right.
The first two weeks of having him home, I found emotional and although my family came round to visit and help and Mick was on hand when he had finished his working day I still felt alone. It’s hard to describe until you’ve been through it but you feel as though you’re in a bubble with your baby and everyone else is in another. I would be asked daily if I was okay and feeling okay and me being me always replied with ‘yeah i’m doing fine thank you’ but the truth was I needed help/support but didn’t know in what way so couldn’t ask for it.

I’m pleased to say after those first two weeks I just calmed down, chilled out and thought to myself ‘you’ve got this girl, you’re doing alright’. Archie is a very happy, chilled out baby so feeling very lucky but i’m still waiting for him to change and start with more witching hours or deciding he doesn’t like the bath anymore. I’ll let you know how it goes.

The biggest shock for me was the daily lifestyle change. I didn’t have a luxury lifestyle at all but I was used to going to work every day, nipping here and popping there but with a baby you can’t just nip or pop anywhere. Getting him into the car and fastened in then realising i’d forgotten something for his change bag. What used to be a quick trip to the supermarket is now a planned schedule. I have to go in between the feeds and after a nappy change so he’s not crying because his nappy is wet. Yes my baby is the one who wines after having the slightest wee, all I can say is thank god for Aldi nappies being super affordable and now are in the sale.

Even though things have changed, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Everyday is a new lesson and I know I have a life ahead of me full of lessons but the adventures and new memories make it all worth while.

You’ll see in time that the posts I write about parenting are all true life for me but I’d love to hear about your parenting drama’s.

NEW FIT me! Matte & Poreless Foundation

As the Spring has arrived and Summer is only a month or so away, it’s been time for me to have a makeup bag sort out and put my beloved Winter foundation to one side. Okay more like use it up to make room for the new finds but we all do it don’t we…

So this month with the arrival of my first baby and most money being spent on baby items, I knew my luxury spends would need to take a back seat so I hit the high street to see what foundations I could try. I had seen the New Maybelline FIT me! foundation advertised on telly quite a lot recently so thought I’d give it a try and with 35 shades available (amazing) I knew I’d find the perfect match for my skin tone which I did, Shade 110.

Usually with foundations they always come up a little warm on my skin, especially if I don’t have any self tan on so to find a foundation to work with my winter skin is a fab feeling.

Right back to this foundation and how I am finding it. As it’s suitable for an oily skin type which to be honest mine isn’t, only occasionally around my nose I have found it possibly a little too matte but if that’s your preferred finish then you’ll love this product. I’m enjoying using it as it blends so well and is super lightweight on my skin and no need for powder on top so less on the skin, perfect for this warmer weather.
I have found the medium coverage is great for most of my skin but where I’ve got a few breakouts on my cheeks, I just need to apply a little more on those areas for a more full coverage and it’s great.

This foundation does last all day on my skin but may vary for each person. I’d definitely recommend using a primer underneath and on I use is either Charlotte Tilbury – Wonder Glow or MAC –Prep + Prime Skin as I still like a slightly dewy look to my skin.

The secret to this foundations is it features micro-powders to control shine and blur pores. If you have any concerns in either of these area’s you’ll love the finish you get. Don’t get me wrong, you won’t get a heavy finish but a natural lightweight finish with a great cover.

So, it’s time to update your makeup bag and go try out some fab high street brands and for the price of around £4.85 you seriously can’t go wrong. I’d love to hear your thought’s on this foundation and also which foundation you’re loving at the moment.

I am seeing more and more about vegan makeup and getting more enquiries asking if I use cruelty free makeup in my pro kit. If I’m honest some of my favourite brands aren’t cruelty free as they are sold in China but I did say I was being honest.

So anyway, I came across Inika Organic on Instagram and after reading about their products and that they are not only a makeup brand but the ingredients actually help nourish your skin in a way they are meant to it was time I invested and gave the brand a shot!

Today I wanted my skin to breath more so wearing the Inika products starting with their Primer – Certified Organic Pure Primer with Hyaluronic Acid. Now this smells amazing and feels gorgeous on the skin. You can feel you skin drink it in and there is no residue left behind, just gorgeous.
So this primer
contains the following certified organic essential oils – Lavender, Lemon Myrtle and Jojoba for nourished and hydrated skin. It also calms and soothes the skin and offers a barrier from the elements we constantly face in our daily lives. Perfect for dry/normal skins.

Next step – Certified Organic Liquid Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid (can you tell i’m liking the hyaluronic acid aspect of these products, anything for a younger, brighter, hydrated looking skin!)

This foundation gives a medium to heavy coverage I would say so perfect for me. If you’re wanting a lighter coverage then their BB Cream is meant to be amazing. That will get getting tried out over the summer months when hopefully I have a more sun-kissed look rather than a typical British wet weather girl look!
Key Ingredients –

  • Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and Jojoba Seed Oils to soothe, hydrate and moisturize the skin.
  • Hyaluronic Acid for improved skin elasticity and hydration.
  • Argan & Rosehip Oils nurture and repair the skin.
  • Fortified with Vitamin E.

The key with this foundation is not to put too much on to start with. Apply a small amount and blend into the skin. I find using a slightly damp beauty blender gives a great coverage and finish without any patchy areas.

My favourite product to finish with is their Long Lash Vegan Mascara. Now this mascara is one of the best I’ve ever come across and trust me when I say I’ve tried hundred’s over the years as a makeup artist.
What I love about this one is it doesn’t smudge, it stays put all day even in the rain and really you only need one coat to get that extra length. Yep it’s true!
This mascara contains c
onditioning ingredients to help boost the lash vitality and health (Vitamin E, Magnolia Bark Extract, Sun flower Oil)
Great for even sensitive eyes.

The mascara has just won the Glamour 2018 Beauty  Award so you can see it’s good stuff.

I haven’t applied any powder as I like the more fresh appearance as appose to the matte look and have added some bronzer to give my face a little lift. It needs it with expecting my baby tomorrow (eekkk)

INIKA is 100% Australian owned which started in Sydney in 2006 and continues to grow worldwide. If you’re looking to try an organic, vegan makeup range with results then please head over to the site and give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I’d love to hear what you think about the products x

Parenting the Sh*t out of Life

I love when you see photo’s of people’s living rooms looking like show homes with the roaring fires, clean spaces and immaculate coffee tables with a gorgeous selection of books stacked neatly in the corner or in that fan shape. In my head that’s my living room but the reality is very different even when I try and keep the coffee table clean and dust free!

So, the coffee table books. I do have a bookshelf in my living room with all my favourite books and which will sometimes end up on the table when I’ve been sat reading them but I just love picking up a book, something that I have an interest in as I’m not really one for stories as such.

My book selection includes makeup books by Bobbi Brown and Rae Morris, The Goddess Guide, a couple of autobiography’s and yes, I’ll put it out here I do have the Katie Price books. I know, I know but they are a giggle. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I had my baby shower and one of my friends brought me this brilliantly funny book – Parenting the Sh*t out of Life

I have been one of those first time expectant mum’s who have been very laid back and thought what will be will be, it’s out of my control anyway so why get stressed! I think the truth is at 34 weeks I have only just started to get my head around the fact that I’m going to be a parent responsible for a little person and making sure I feed them and don’t leave them anywhere. Up until now I’ve not given it much thought but I did say to Mick (my Mr) ‘Seriously, you’re going to have to help me as I haven’t a clue what I’m doing’  He just looked at me then started laughing but reassured me saying I would be a great mum and I’ll have it covered. My response was ‘we’ll have it covered’!

Back to the book, Mother Pukka and Pappa Pukka have it right. They tell you how it is and don’t sugar coat anything so you’re not being lead into a false sense of baby bliss. This is what I need, I need the facts and all that comes with it. I just want to thank Anna and Matt for this bible and keeping it all so real.

I’ll post an update of my personal journey once the little bambino makes an appearance as so far it’s been one heck of a journey but I’ve got this, well I hope I do! Let’s Parent the Sh*t out of Life x
